This is a new western restaurant that opened up at what we called a jinxed location at Tiong Bahru. It's predecessors were mostly overpriced, lousy food and dodgy-ly decorated food places that we didn't bother giving a second chance. And all of them closed down for obvious reasons. So we were quite curious to see the renovations going on for Chapter 55. And even more excited to see the sign that says "one-for-one weekday lunch". =)
So on day 2 of opening, we went to check out the lunch. To be clear to readers, the one-for-one does not apply to the entire menu. But quite a decent selection of the menu falls under the one-for-one deal. And as expected, its the cheapest items that you get free. So if you chose 4 dishes, the 2 cheapest comes free. And the eligible items are not limited to main courses. It is applicable to some appetisers too. But bear in mind since appetisers are generally cheaper than main courses, if you want to be really 'worth it' about it, may not be the best option.
The truffle fries does not fall under the one-for-one, but we decided to order it anyway. They are pretty good fries! Crispy shoe string fries with fluffy centre, I loved them! Down side is the truffle oil are not mixed in very evenly, so you get that occasional fry that is uber fragrant, the rest are just regular very nice fries.
Truffle fries
Their pastas were served pretty quickly. The vongole smelled amazing when it arrived. E thoroughly enjoyed it. J found her mushroom Aglio Olio a tiny bit on the bland side, but she still liked it anyway.
Vongole
Mushroom aglio olio
The non pasta mains. Goodness. 30 minutes after ordering, no sign of FQ and my food! After several times badgering the waiter, we finally got our food a good 45-50 minutes after ordering. Bad! But I chalked it up as teething problem on the kitchen's part. It's day 2 of operation after all. My sea bass was very nicely done and the mash potato puree was an interesting touch.
Sea bass
We didn't really liked their coffee. It was too bitter, and J said that was over burnt coffee. Not that I know anything about coffee...
Latte
The most impressive thing about them? The gelato counter. Their flavors are interesting enough, and seems to change often enough for you to want to sample quite frequently. It's so nice to have a gelato place within walking distance from work for horribly hot days!
Gelato!
We went back on a separate occasion one week later, because S wanted to go. This time round I thought the kitchen should have sorted out its teething problem. And initially, I was impressed by my beef lasagne that arrived 10 minutes after ordering. But wait. We ordered TWO beef lasagne. And the second one didn't arrive til more than 30 minutes later. Guess the first one was a wrong delivery from another table. Oops. So needless to say, by the time the others' food arrived, I had long finished my lasagne. But timing aside, the lasagne IS very nice. The tomato sauce was perfect, only complain is the serving size is a little on the small side. NOT ENOUGH!!
Beef lasagne
We tried their buffalo wings this time round. Pretty good. Unfortunately my wing was slightly pink near the bone, something I feedback to the lady boss. She took the feedback very good-naturedly.
Buffalo wings
We also got fried calamari this time. Nice! The batter is not overly thick, and the squid cooked just right. Not too soft, not to chewy. Perfect.
Calamari
E tried the breaded pork ribs. It turned out just to be a deep fried pork cutlet. Nothing amazing. And if I didn't remember wrongly, it could do with a little more seasoning. But this was 5 months ago. I may have remembered wrongly. Hahaha
Breaded pork ribs
Overall I do like their food. It's the waiting times that is keeping me away. JK have been back twice for their dinner now, and both his wife and him loved it. He swears by their pizzas, which I haven't try. Maybe 5 months on, their kitchen speed have improved. Maybe it's time to give them another chance one fine day. For now, I'm quite happy to stop by occasionally for gelato. =D They're always quite full when I drop by, so I think this joint is here to stay and break that chain of 'unlucky' eateries to occupy that 'cursed' space.
It's our 5 year anniversary, and lazy us... Neither of us planned anything for that day! It was only at somewhere around 5pm, that we started discussing where to go. I just got him a wooden wine rack for our Wood Anniversary, so I wanted to swing by ToTTs to get the wine glasses to go with the rack. So my solution for shortlisting locations was by going on to HungryGoWhere, and searching for "romantic" and "Bukit Timah" area. Then found this Italian place known as Trattoria Capri. Looked up their website to check out their menu, saw some vegetarian risotto and pizza options. Hubby say looks ok, and so there we went.
Parking was quite a nightmare, because it was actually in a corner of a landed property estate. They do provide valet service, though hubby refused to use it. In the end we managed to find a parking space a distant away and walked to the restaurant.
The service staff were friendly, although for some reason our table was slightly neglected. We had no spoon on the table setting (which, by the way, wasn't a table a staff brought us to... more of hubby just sat down upon walking into restaurant). Then we weren't served bread until I saw the table next to us being given bread then I asked for it. But the waitress was very nice and apologetic about all these, so I couldn't find it in my heart to fault them.
Very pretty oil and vinegar bottle
As you can see in the background, the bread only appeared after my starters have been served. Which wasn't exactly in the correct order of things but I only noticed the next table's bread a period of time after we ordered our food. But anyway, these are the crusty type bread. More of the soft, fluffy, herb-y bread, which soaks up the oil and vinegar very nicely.
Bread
The soup of the day was pumpkin soup. I seldom can resist pumpkin soup. Actually, I seldom can resist soup, full-stop. Warm, hearty, not overly creamy. I liked it, and was happily dipping my late bread into it. Late has it's benefits too!
Pumpkin soup
We both love caprese, so we ordered caprese salad. I know I said I have a new favourite cheese, but that doesn't mean I'll stop liking Buffalo mozzarella. They do have Burrata cheese, but unfornately, it's served with parma ham so a no-no for the hubby. The classic fresh cheese + juicy tomatoes + peppery rocket combination just CANNOT go wrong. I spotted the next table finish their starters leaving all the wild rocket behind. What a waste!!!! *facepalm*
Caprese salad
For main I ordered a Baccalá alla caprese, baked cod fish. Ooooohhh... It was SOOOOOOOO nice!!! In fact, the hubby summarized it when he saw the happiness on my face upon the first bite: "Is it skin crispy crispy, flesh soft soft, sauce nice nice?". Coming from a vegetarian, I think I trained my hubby well. But yes, that's essentially the gist of this dish. The skin WAS crispy, and the flesh WAS perfectly done, nice and flakey. More of fish juices than a sauce, the liquid WAS really very yummy, fragrant without overpowering the natural milky flavor of the cod fish, which was really the star of this dish. The baked veggies alongside were bathed in the same yummy juices. I especially loved the mushrooms, which absorbed the flavours of the juices. And yay! More wild rocket for me!
Baked cod fish
Look at how nice and flakey the fish is!
He ordered the Tartufata pizza, which has porcini mushrooms and truffle cream. It's nice! But cream based pizza tend to be more rich than the tomato based ones, so he got a bit sick towards the end. I helped him with 1 slice.
Tartufata pizza
And since it was a special occasion, how can we not order a dessert? I ordered a lava cake to share. Theirs was served with flaming Grand Marnier. So pretty! The result is a nicely crispy surface, which we broke through to find a soft cake encasing the oozy filling. YUM!
Lava cake
Maybe the cod fish skewed my bias, but I really want to return here, if not just for the fish. But that said, I saw on their menu a lobster pasta for two. And spotted some other table ordered it. They weren't joking about the lobster, it was one entire lobster on the plate! Now that's something try-worthy. So yeah, I wanna bring Lynn back. But I'll be sure to use their valet parking service, available on Fri to Sun evenings. Haha!
We walked pass this restaurant several times from our commute to and fro gym and Plaza Singapura. Remembering how much we liked Saveur, Lynn and I made a note to come here for dinner one of the days post-gym. So here we are, finally, very hungry after our workout.
Concetto is a Italian version of Saveur, but remaining on the same principle of affordable, authentic food. Only instead of the French fare that Saveur focus on, Concetto is an Italian extension. I only found this out now, as I'm blogging it actually. I initially thought it was supposed to be an upmarket version of Saveur. Now that I found out it's an Italian counterpart, some stuff makes more sense. I will explain later.
Heads up: like Saveur, the portions at Concetto aren't huge. We learnt this only after the arrival of our initial two mains and we immediately placed order for a third one. But anyway, food taste-wise... here goes. Our appetiser was Buffalo mozzarella. Tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese atop a toasted rye bread. We weren't impressed. The mozzarella was a tad dry and doesn't quite have the freshness usually associated with buffalo mozzarella.
Buffalo mozzarella
Our first main course was Wagyu tender, with foie gras and roasted portobello mushrooms. The foie gras was very blissful! Melt-in-the-mouth, livery, buttery, mmmmmmmmm. We loved the mushrooms too, they were very juicy and good vehicles at picking up leftover foie gras fats on the plate. The beef was done just nice, even though it didn't have the typical wagyu aroma. We were pretty happy with this dish.
Wagyu tender with foie gras and portobello
Next was the Duck confit, served on pasta pesto. This dish, according to the menu, is by Saveur. And Saveur's duck confit is good! That's why Lynn was tempted by this dish immediately and ignored all other tempting dishes on the menu. However, we were disappointed. It was actually pretty normal. Not at all blissful like Saveur's. Now looking back, I'm wondering why the heck we ordered duck confit in an Italian restaurant. Haaa
Duck confit with pesto
The additional main course we ordered upon seeing our mains sizes was Pollo Allo. Half boneless chicken, with mushroom stuffing. We top-up for truffled mashed potatoes. The chicken is nice! It was very tender and very flavourful. The mushroom stuffing was delicious. And the truffled mash potatoes... YUM! And it's boneless! How easy to eat is that??
Pollo allo with truffled mash add-on
There were hits and misses, we liked two out of four dishes. Pity the portion size is small, so I'm not sure how keen we are to return. But hmm... I do like the beef and the foie gras... Maybe we'll return and focus more on the Italian dishes.... But not the Buffalo mozzarella.
It's my birthday!!! And the hubby and I arranged to have dinner together. But he didn't mention where we were going. Knowing how bochap he usually is, I was expecting one of the usual places we go. To my surprise, he didn't say anything, just asked me to get in the car when he picked me up. I fell asleep, and woke up to find myself in The Grandstand. Still he kept mum about where we're having dinner. He couldn't find the place and we were staring at the directory. I asked him which restaurant he still kept quiet. Just dragged me all around the Grandstand, until we found the restaurant at some ulu corner with it's main entrance from the outside of the mall. And no signboard. It was until he spotted the menu with the restaurant name on it then he was sure he got the right place.
So here we are at Ristorante da Valentino. A quaint little Italian restaurant hidden at one corner at a mall in the middle of nowhere. He actually found it by random search online. After we browsed through the menu, the server came by and gave us a verbal commentary of the specials, of which I understood only parts of. But one of the recommended starters was something he described and sounded like 'mozzarella with tomatoes'. Hey, that sounds like Caprese salad and I like that! So we went with that (without even knowing the price actually).
When it arrived, the waiter let me take a photo of the whole plate, before he divided it into two side plates for us. And that's the moment that I was blown away, and HAD to immediately google what I thought I heard the dish is called. And I found it. That's a Burrata cheese. Something I've never heard of before this point in time, but something that replaced Buffalo mozzarella as my favourite cheese from this point forth. Imagine the freshness of Buffalo mozzarella. Now, keep that same taste in your head, but imagine a creamier, richer version. That, is Burrata. It was sooooo creamy... I looooove it. Totally. And the accompanying cherry tomatoes were so sweet and juicy, complementing the Burrata so well. I was totally in love with the whole dish.
Burrata cheese
I wanted a mushroom soup so we got mushroom soup. Theirs was served in a cup, and it was the velvety, mushroomy kind. As opposed to chunky or creamy kind, if you get my drift. Nice warm start to the meal. But pales in comparison to that amazing salad I just had. And what's Italian food without good crusty Italian bread? We were given three crusty rolls to go with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Hubby stopped at one so I polished off two. Yum. I love bread.

The hubby went for a Spinach lasagne. It's creamy and fragrant. I tried a bit of it and I liked it. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauce perfect. But it was a little to rich for the hubby and he struggled through the second half of it. He never really did well with cream based food.
Spinach lasagne
I greedily went for the Carbonara. This was a REAL carbonara. Made with mainly eggs and lots of cheese, very little (if any) cream. It was RICH! I did enjoy the 'realness' of it, but I found the pasta a little too al dente to my liking. I would have preferred the pasta be cooked that little bit longer. So actually, I found myself liking my hubby's dish more...
Carbonara
Overall, I enjoyed the dinner. I'm not sure if the Burrata totally skewed my impression of this place to a highly positive bias. That may well be, because now as I'm writing, I remember I didn't enjoy the Carbonara. But it's a nice cosy place for that special occasion. In fact, we were almost the only Singaporeans in that restaurant. Almost all other guests were Caucasians! Guess that speaks volumes about its authenticity.
I've spotted this joint a few times walking in and out of Sentosa from Vivocity. It faces the sea, and looked like a nice place to chill with the hubby during sunset. So one fine day, we decided we'll go 'pak tor' there. Unfortunately, we chose a slightly overcast day and the hubby decided that sitting outdoor was risky. Moreover it was one of those incredibly humid August evening and the indoor air-conditioning was welcomed.
First up, truffle fries. I like that theirs were slightly more thick cut than the usual shoe string fries. I like my fries thick and fluffy, which was how theirs was. However, theirs were a little oily, and there wasn't a lot of truffle flavor.
Truffle fries
Lynn told me their chicken liver pate was very good. I could find it nowhere in the menu, except as one of the options for the bruschetta. So we ordered the tomato and the mushroom for the hubby, while I get the chicken liver pate. Indeed, their pate was creamy, livery and yummy. I just wished that it was a dish by itself.
Bruschetta - roma tomatoes, mushroom and brie, chicken liver pate
Remembering the fabulous crab pasta from Riccioti, I ordered the crab spaghetti and was sorely disappointed. The pasta was too undercooked (mind you, I know al-dente. Theirs' was definitely undercooked) and the tomato sauce waaaaay too tangy. That said, they were very generous with the sweet crab meat. In the end I picked through to get all the crab, and gave up on the pasta and sauce.
Crab spaghetti
Hubby got the mushroom risotto. As he is usually not big on rich dishes, he enjoyed maybe the first three mouthfuls? Then he got sick and finished the rest without much comments. But risotto are always like that, very rich. So he typically never liked them.
Mushroom risotto
We didn't get any wine despite being in a Wine Company. Hubby wasn't in the mood for it. We also weren't impressed by the food. And being 1 of the only 2 tables in the restaurant was pretty awkward. I'm pretty sure we won't be back in the recent future.
So it was Commencement Day! And because I've been allocated to the evening session, we decided to go Star Vista for dinner before the ceremony. Because the hubby is vegetarian, I decided on Riccioti. There's always vegetarian options in Italian joints.
Lynn and XP met us at the restaurant, because XP was graduating too! Because of time constraints, we decided on our orders pretty fast. In fact, I went ahead and ordered for XP even though he hadn't arrive yet. We've eaten together often enough that I know what he likes.
For starters, we went for mushroom bruschetta. Nice change from the usual tomato, served on crusty bread with slices of parmesan. We found out these aren't easy to bite into two, so we just shoved the entire thing into our mouths.
Funghi bruschetta
Lynn and I decided to share a pasta and a main course. So for pasta we chose Linguine al granchio. I liked it, alot! It was a mixture of cream and tomato based sauce. Richness from the cream, tartness from the tomato to balance out the rich, and voila, you have a delicious winner that doesn't overwhelm you with too much richness. And the shreds of crab meat inside the sauce was a winner too! I really liked this dish, as it appealed to my cream+pasta+crab craving all at one shot.
Linguine al granchio
For XP I ordered him a salmon pasta. Because he like fish in general. It was served in the same tomato+cream sauce, making it an equal winner. With flakes of salmon, he enjoyed it very much as well.
Tagliette salmone
The hubby got Spaghetti Pomodoro. Spaghetti in tomato based pasta sauce. No frills. It was in reality the best way to taste the original flavors of the sauces, although I tend to be swayed by frillier alternatives. He liked it fine, so I guess Riccioti's tomato sauce agrees with him.
Spaghetti Pomodoro
The main course that Lynn and I shared was the boneless grilled half chicken. I was amazed. It was really boneless except for the wings. The meat was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The lack of bones made for an exceptionally easy to eat meal, with little need to dissect anything. The dissection part is what turns me away from most roast or grilled chicken so Riccioti scored with their boneless verison. The mash potatoes, however, were a little on the dry side.
Boneless grilled half chicken
For a place I randomly picked off the mall directory, I was actually very pleased with the food. I really liked their pasta and their chicken, and I believe I will be back to try their pizza. They have another branch nearer to my workplace. I may very well end up there soon enough.
My 100th post. And it has to be a negative post, one that made me so unhappy I decided to cut my queue of unblogged entries to talk about this one first. It's Mother's Day dinner. We were throwing around some ideas of restaurants to try, and the first few were either veto-ed by some, or the restaurant doesn't accept reservations. In the end, after surfing through some of the Mother's Day promotions on Chope, we decided on trying out Parco Caffe. The promo was a free meal for mum, with at least 2 main courses ordered. There are 8 of us, so more than easy to hit the requirements. The menu looked great, so we were quite excited to try it out.
Our reservation was at 6.30pm. The ambience was actually pretty nice. Granted, some of us were late and orders were only placed at 7pm, but still didn't justify some of the service problems we encountered. No bread was served, in an Italian restaurant. I didn't see any on the menu either, but there was olive oil and balsamic vinegar provided on the table. So we asked, and was told yes, they serve bread, do we want? Hey, you're supposed to serve it whether we want or not, or at least ask before I ask you! Even then, no bread was served, and eventually two plates of pasta fritta (fried pasta) was served with some vague excuse about bread not yet ready. In an Italian restaurant! Oh my....
Drinks refill rate was horrible, even after several polite reminders from us. Generally we were being served by three servers, one was slightly smiley, one was a little of a poker face but still cordial, the last is a really dark faced guy. The kind of face that makes you feel you owe him something. That's the guy who asked if we wanted bread after we raised the question. And the thing that irritated us the most, is the rate of food service. By 8pm, 3 out of the 8 main courses never made it to our table, including the promotional mum's meal. Seriously, I would have thought that the promotional meal is the most ready item in their kitchen, given it's what attract many to the restaurant in the first place!
Now about the food. Food-wise, it's overall ok. Hits and misses, like most places. Their pizzas are thin crusted, which is something I like, but some people may find it not quite filling for the tummy. I'm not huge on Parma ham, so I ate Pizza Parco without much feelings or thoughts. The Herbal Chicken smelled fantastic when it was set down. An entire spring chicken bathed in a rich cocktail of Chinese herbs. It was pretty yummy. Only downside was the 'vegetables' mentioned in the menu seems to be limited to two pieces of lettuce at the bottom of the plate.
Last slice of Pizza Parco

I didn't try the lamb cutlet, but father-in-law seemed to enjoy it. For someone with his small appetite, he managed to finish the entire plate of 3 cutlets. Photo was only remembered after he polished off one. The foie gras was a miss. It didn't melt in my mouth, it wasn't full of livery goodness. Basically it just wasn't blissful. It was, however, considered cheap. $24 for 2 slabs of liver. Pity it wasn't tasty but I guess you get what you pay for. For that price, I'll rather go to Saveur's. Oh wait, why was I having foie gras in an Italian restaurant?
Parco Costine D’ Agnello - Lamb cutlet
Fegato - foie gras
Their version of Caprese was served with Parma Ham, which I requested to be on the side, so that the hubby can eat. It was two huge slices of Parma ham. I ate one slice. Still no love. Call me poor taste if you will, but I think I prefer good old bacon. The tomato slices are grilled slightly, which sets it apart from the usual Caprese. The final dish that made it to the table was the baked salmon. Wrapped in a packet of greaseproof paper, it was torn open in front of us by the server. This revealed a nicely done piece of fish, alongside some potatoes, and horrors, unopened clams. So we brought it up to the waiter, who (??) offered to open it for us. She attempted with M's fork and knife, and failed. L managed to open his, and found it sandy. So in the end, most of the clams were left uneaten.

The kitchen apparently was ill-prepared for the Mother's Day crowded. We initially wanted Vongole Pasta, and was told it wasn't available. Ok, maybe not enough fresh clams that day. Our order of 24-hours cooked Kurobuta Pork rib had to be cancelled, also because it wasn't available. And what's more irritating is that I saw the table behind us, who came later, was brought a loaf of bread. After the hour long wait, we decided to cancel the last three dishes and go elsewhere for the three of us to eat. We called for the bill and I was charged full amount. I demanded a discount of the supposed free meal that never came. In the end, the manager came and gave me a goodwill discount of 30%.
Truth be told, the manager was very nice about it. If not for him, my impression of this restaurant will be totally down in the drains. I did see him in the kitchen trying to make things right before I cancelled our order, and I respect him for it. But it still doesn't justify how a restaurant failed to prepare for a big day, even after putting up a promotion. He said the kitchen was jammed from the crowd, and actually it's our table that jammed it. Seriously, I reserved last week. No excuse that you didn't know a table of eight is coming. As M put it "it's Mother's Day and my mother didn't get to eat!"

I've always liked Skinny Pizza for their super thin pizza crusts, their fragrant truffle fries, and the wild rocket on basically everything on the menu. Previous visits were to the Dempsey branch, called Barracks, and the Great World City branch. When we were at PS hunting for a dinner location at the new wing, we decided Skinny will do because it wasn't too crowded, and some of the group hadn't tried it before. Moreover I had a 10% discount voucher from a previous visit.
I immediately decided I wanted the truffle fries and the Wild Truffle Mushroom pizza. I actually haven't tried the truffle pizza before, but remember smelling next table's when we were dining at Great World City. I remembered it smelling fantastic, so had no qualms about ordering it this time round. On top of that, we ordered a meter long chicken sausage, a Meatball Spaghetti Napolitana, a Squid Ink pizza, and a Smoked Turkey Swiss pizza.
Squid Ink Pizza
Meter Long Chicken Sausage
Truffle fries
I missed the photo opportunity for the other two pizzas. The truffle fries were as good as I remember. The Wild Truffle Mushroom pizza disappointed. It didn't have the aroma I whiffed at Great World. I'm not sure is it a branch to branch variation, or that it really isn't as attractive when it's right in front of you. You know what they say about the grass being greener on the other side. It tasted like regular mushroom pizza with the tiniest hint of truffle. The Squid Ink, however, was really yummy. The ink was actually baked into the crust, so the crust had that additional inkiness. Together with the additional smear of ink sauce, the squid rings and the ubiquitous wild rocket, it was a really good slice of pizza. The Smoked Turkey Swiss pizza was pretty good too. Salty turkey slices that went with so well with everything else on the pizza.
The sausage was quite average. Not the kind that makes your fork keep going back for seconds. And it seemed that I was the only sausage lover in the group. So I dutifully finished up the sausage at the end when no one else wanted it. The pasta was delicious. We all liked the tomato based sauce. It was fragrant, with the right balance of sweet and salty. The meatballs were ok. Hubby joined us subsequently, and I ordered him a Ratatouille Pizza. He didn't complain, so I guess it was good enough for him.
We did have a little trouble getting the waiters' attentions for refill of water, new orders and additional table setting and what not, but overall the service wasn't too bad. The pizza came one at the time, so we had the time to distribute all the slices before the next one arrived, leaving our table less cramped. It was a nice place to just eat and catch up. Maybe, just maybe, I should return to the Great World branch to try their truffle mushroom pizza.

The constant craving for their warm beef salad finally brought both of us back to "The Steakhouse", only to find out that they have changed their menu. Super sad but our beef craving got us staying to try out their new menu. Couple of hits and misses for their new dishes.
We order Walnut salad and Escargots as appetizers. Walnut salad was enjoyable, sweet cruchy walnuts with big cubes of blue cheese poached pears. Salad was not overly sweet and has a nice fruitness to it with the vegetables.
Walnut salad with poached pear and blue cheese
Escargots are served with nicely toasted bread, the garlic butter sauce for the escargot is amazing, and its a good idea providing bread sticks to soak up all the goodness on that plate. However, the escargots' taste are abit lacking and could do with more flavour in it. Bread is nicely toasted, crisp on the outer, warm and fluffy in the inside. Gracie commented that they should provide 6 bread instead of 5 cos there's half a dozen escargots.
We ordered Angus Beef tagliatelle pasta in cream sauce and truffle oil and Australian Wagyu ribeye 200g (Grade 8-9). Pasta's texture is more like handmade pasta compared to those dried one in supermarket, so it soaks up the creamy sauce better than regular pasta. Sauce is wonderful, not overly creamy and we finished up the whole plateful including the sauce! Beef is enjoyable as well, lean but not tough and slightly juicy.
Beef tagliatelle pasta in cream sauce and truffle oil
We added a piece of foie gras for ~$16 and also mac and cheese as side, mushroom sauce and herb butter as accompanying sauce. Wagyu steak is quite disappointing, its not lousy but its definitely not as blissful as the one we had when we first visited. Steak does not have the distinctive wagyu fragrance, although its nicely done at medium rare and quite juicy. It just din quite make it. Halfway through the steak, we started to feel that its too oily and had some difficulties finishing it. The foie gras saved the day! Pan fried and crispy charred and saltish on the outside, melts and fills your mouth with its fragance... HMMMmmmm...
Wagyu ribeye with foie gras
Mac and cheese is a total waste of time, calories and money. Strongly urge you not to order it, its nothing like the pasta we had earlier, my mum can make better mac and cheese and my mum can't cook pasta. Herb butter is also different from our previous visit, we almost didn't touch it.
Overall, we had mixed feelings about their new menu, service is also abit slow. There's another tall male server we felt was abit sloppy in his service but thankfully, we had a nice friendly server attending to us. Average spending is about $100/pax, with the more expensive new menu and slightly disappointing beef, there's only a slim slim slim chance that we will be back.
